WA:Venomous jellyfish stings girl in Broome
PERTH, Feb 28 AAP - A young girl surfing off Broome has been stung by a potentially
deadly irukandji jellyfish, prompting the shire to shut down the popular Cable Beach.
The girl was taken to Broome Hospital after she was stung about 7am (WST) on Monday.
Broome Shire has closed Cable Beach to the public for 24 hours and will advise on its
subsequent reopening.
The tiny irukandji jellyfish has a bell measuring five to 10 millimetres wide and four
tentacles that can be as long as one metre.
